Welcome to the land of Bcollective, you'll be a part of transforming THIS BUILDING (below) into a completed, livable (or chicken-coop-able) structure. You'll learn about natural materials and technologies, best practices and uses, using blended building techniques (conventional meets natural), and appropriate kinds of plasters for different finish surfaces. We'll be installing windows and doors - you'll get your hands in it all.
August 1-2Saturday-Sunday
Finishing window framing, prepping interior wood with clay-slip, and installation of straw-clay insulation and cob. 11 AM - 6 PM August 8 (no registration required)Saturday, Family festival celebration day, Picnic, and COB STOMPING
Everyone welcome to the land to celebrate, play music, squish mud between our toes. Mixing cob is a really fun activity for kids of all ages and then we get to use the mud we make to put in the final wall of the cob structure, with glass bottles embedded in the cob mixture to let colour and light into the building. Pure summertime mess. RSVP on Facebook. 9:30 AM onward! |

About our Flow
11am - 6pm
This is primarily hands-on, working with the materials as a way of learning, with education-focused breaks to answer questions and talk about key points in the building process, materials use, and site considerations.
Movement educator Nala Walla will be offering playful ecosomatic tips and tools for strengthening our body-mechanics and flexing our mindfulness "muscle." Our work parties incorporate songs and storytelling, stretching and body care, and other group activities. We will focus on having fun while being productive.
It's satisfying to see the work we can accomplish when we work together using minimal tools and simple technologies. The magic of clay and human relationships is something you can expect out of your experience over these weekends. We like to work long days, and enjoy ourselves throughout. Work hard, and play hard too!!!!
Kids are welcome for the duration, but you must provide your own childcare.
